The competition rules have changed since the inaugural UTC.

The winner will be the player who has not been eliminated and is the winner of the final round. Selections of scratchings or late scratchings will be replaced with the official WA TAB sub for that race.

In the event of a dead heat for any position the winner will be the person who has tipped most winners in that round. If positions are still tied, we will decide the winner based on the official TAB dividends added for all winning tips. For winning tips, we will add the TAB win dividends together. The overall highest addition of dividends, goes through to the next round.

Should any meeting or race be abandoned or postponed no points will be allocated.

1. Only one entry per individual.
2. Separate registration. We require name, address, email and contact for prizes. PO Box is acceptable.
3. Prize $1000 for the ultimate tipster decided on knockout format. Last two standing play off and the highest points scorer is the winner. An additional $1000 to the winner if: a) the winner holds an active WA TAB account and b) if that account has been transacted on (ie bets been made) in the preceding 10 weeks (ie at any time during the competition).
4. Prize $50 betting voucher each week for the highest point scorer in that particular week who is still alive in the knock out competition. An additional $50 betting voucher if: a) the winner holds an active WA TAB account and b) if that account has been transacted on (ie bets been made) in the last week (Sunday to Saturday of the competition week).
5. An additional $50 betting voucher each week (excluding the first week) for the top weekly scorer who has already been knocked out of the competition. An additional $50 betting voucher if: a) the winner holds an active WA TAB account and b) if that account has been transacted on (ie bets been made) in the last week (Sunday to Saturday of the competition week).
6. For rules 4 and 5 - In the event of a draw, the voucher will be awarded on a countback. Most number of winners, followed by most number of seconds, followed by most number of thirds. If still drawn, the total of the tab dividends on winners only will be tallied and the voucher awarded to the highest overall score. If still drawn, then the prize will be split between the winners.
7. Scoring will be via points method.
8. Pick one horse per race. If that horse wins, score 5 pts, if it places 2nd, 3pts, and third, 1 pt.
9. We pit punter against punter each week. Each punter will know who he is pitted against and everyone on the site will see a draw of who is up against who.
10. After each race, there will be a running score for each head to head to be displayed on the UTC tipping page.
11. The loser of each bout gets knocked out and the winner progresses to the next round. The losers continue to tip for points. The highest overall “knocked out” point scorers for the week will be offered “wild cards”.
12. In case of a draw, we will count back. Most number of winners wins, followed by most number of seconds if winners are equal etc. In the case of an absolute draw, we will tally up the TAB dividends for winning tips and the highest overall dividend goes through to the next round.
13. Failure to lodge tips in the required time will result in a zero score and elimination from the competition. You may still however tip on and accumulate overall score in an attempt to secure a wild card.
14. Tipping will close 30 minutes before the advertised start time of the first race on tipping day.
15. Tipping is for Belmont Park and Ascot Saturday meetings only, with the exception of week 1 where tipping will be on Belmont Park, Sunday October 2.
16. Competition begins Sunday October 2. An email will be sent out to all competitors prior to tipping commencement each week.
17. The promoter's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
18. Employees and immediate families of the promoter and sponsor (RWWA) to this promotion are not eligible to win any prize money or free betting vouchers.
19. For the purpose of this promotion, immediate families is defined as Mother, Father, sister, brother, spouse (including de facto), offspring, living in the same premises.
20. Entrants into this promotion must be 18 years of age or older.
21. Wild cards will be awarded in the following manner: The highest overall points scorers who have been knocked out of the competition, will be awarded wild cards for the next week. Early in the competition, multiple wild cards will be awarded. For example, if 6 wild cards are available, then the top six “knocked out” competitors will be awarded a wild card. There is no restriction on how many wild cards can be won.
22. Final wildcard numbers will be published once competition entries are closed.

Perth Turf Talk reserves the right to change or amend the rules without notice or disqualify any entrant who has breached the rules or spirit of the competition.
