Looks like it is a great time to have a 2yo ready to go. They are struggling to get a full field it would seem

I'm expecting the 1200m 3yo race to be a pretty good field with the Challenge Stakes 2 weeks later.
Will we see the likes of Waratah's Secret or Sir Hallowell stepping out?

With double nominations from tomorrow's meeting, the 2yo field could be down to only 7 runners, then less scratchings for usual stuff

It is an old chestnut, but again a city meeting is about to be held with 9 runners or less in half the program, and probably more to come out before Saturday.

If RWWA ever expect to get betting turnover up, they need to seriously address this longterm problem.

It will be like a bloody graveyard out there again come Saturday.

it's not the only place with this. nsw over the next 2 weeks is a disgrace. and they wonder why fields are no good. we've had between today and 21st of feb:

randwick today
wyong tomorrow
canterbury friday
warwick farm trials friday
kembla sat
randwick sat
gosford sun
randwick trials monday
hawkesbury tuesday
warwick farm wednesday
canterbury thursday night
rosehill trials friday
rosehill races saturday
wyong sunday

all from the same pool of horses. it's a joke.

Really ? That will be interesting radio. Seeing how you have a good line of communication, how about this question.

How is this for a fact ........... 2 2yo 1000M races four days apart, over the same distance, same course, both restricted to the same age, with a total acceptance of 17 runners (subject to late changes of course) for a whopping $70,000 combined prizemoney.

Compare this to a race today over 1820M 3yo + rated 54-64 and 14 greeted the starter after a scratching. Yet they only raced for $15,000. No similar race offered on Saturday for these stayers either.

This is not good programming in my opinion.

Far too much racing, and the product becomes diluted. Funny thing I would bet, is that there would still be a lot of horses that can't get a run.

It is tragic. My memories of going to the races at Randwick & Rosehill sound like the incoherant ramblings of an old man, and I'm not even 50 !!

We are watching the demise of a once great sport.

Trying to place one over a bit of ground in Gero sometime in the next meeting or two............. Nothing on offer past 1,600m other than an OPEN 1,800m. (which if you happen to win cop a huge penalty !)

Tip em out for a spell I guess.............no options. What a waste ! Crying or Very sad
