  • Speedmaps

One of the most powerful tools a punter can have in their arsenal is an accurate pre race picture of how any race is to run. It is one of the primary tools used by professional punters and is provided by race speed maps. A speed map is an assessment, based on numerous factors of how any race is to be run, and provides predictive in race running positions of each horse. Factors that can determine in running positions are, barriers, track condition, rail placement, class, stage of a horses preparation, whether it is racing within its optimum distance range, gear changes, weights, overall race and sectional times, tactical training and riding styles, detectable track bias and several other factors. More than 50% of all races won are won those runners who have the ability to race within the first half a dozen horses.

It is a huge advantage long term to be on these horses with tactical speed that are able to take up positions as such. Most backmarkers are generally over bet in the market place as a result of ‘eye-catching’ runs the start prior, when finishing on late, but they at huge statistical disadvantage and are best avoided. Accurate race maps can clearly show the predictive position of all runners, and there worth as a punting tool cannot be overstated. PTT’S race maps are accurately compiled by Aaron Delaporte and are a product of consideration of a host of variables and countless hours of video review.

Each map is represented by easy to read graphics and colour coding to readily identify both advantaged and disadvantaged runners. Each map is also inclusive of expert comments, race selections and overall pace assessment..

  • Ratings

The ratings generated are the culmination of some unique software developed over a number of years. The sophisticated program is known as RADIS, which is an acronym for Race Analysis Data Interrogation Software. The software is designed to interrogate southcoast database files, the base platform for all our form analysis. Southcoast database is the most comprehensive commercially available database available in the country. The Radis software is designed to execute numerous race analytical functions, including assigning rating points to each individual race runner based on an abundance of form factors.

Other features include, the ability to detect notable form patterns, a pricing component that frames a ratings based market on each race, which can be compared to both pre race and real time markets, thus enabling the user to readily identify horses that are calculated to be ‘overs’ and value in each race. A race speed simulator is also a component of the program that calculates race tempo and horses positions in running throughout, thus enabling members dual speed ratings. The software has been designed to have a programming bias for fitness, speed and consistency, three areas we rate as the pinnacle of form consideration. The program as good as what it is cannot identify unlucky runs in a horses form history, so there will always be manual input involved before the final numbers are crunched. The input as such, is reliant on extensive video analysis, which is an extremely important component of our overall analysis.

The software was a collaboration of the late E.J. Minnis who ran the website The Puntmaster for many years and was one of the most respected and knowledgeable men in Australian racing and Ken Blake who has come on board the PTT team. Ken was a feature article writer and regular columnist for the national racing magazine Practical Punting Monthly for many years and ran his own website as well. Ken also does work for one of the country’s most successful punting syndicates. Each race rated also includes a comprehensive race overview, with any detectable form alerts..

  • Knock of the Day

If you were to ask Ken one area in which he excels on the punt, he will tell you the ability to isolate false favourites and undervalued runners. This area will especially appeal to those who use the Betfair platform and whose betting activities also include laying horses. This is of also great value to the win/place punter as well; if you can dismiss the favourite as a genuine winning chance, then needless to add, value on other runners starts to loom large. Ken boasts an extremely high strike rate in this area.

  • Clocking Winners

A horse race is just like any other race, it is a contest of speed. The greatest attribute any thoroughbred can have is to be blessed with natural speed. Here we try to isolate any horse running at the meet, that has a history over high speed over its respective race distance, or has shown, in recent times marked improvement in race times within its optimum distance range. This can be in either overall race times or sectionals.

  • Trial Files

Horses making there debut or resuming from a spell generally do so via the trials. These trials provided an important guide to there winning chances come racetime. These articles will pinpoint horses which are to be looked at following strong trial performances.
